Josh Byers

– who I am and what I do

I'm a ordinary guy who has been blessed with a beautiful wife, four awesome kids, a job I love, a church that is a family and a life I don't deserve.

My passions and pursuits vary and change as time goes on but these are the things I'm most consistently fond of: buying books for my Kindle and reading some of them, playing Super Mario Bros. with my family, watching movies and serial TV shows, the Denver Broncos, drinking way too much hand-crafted coffee and cans of Coke Zero, Arsenal FC, listening to film scores, playing Tiny Wings, designing fun and beautiful things and stalking B&H Photo Video for any new gear I can add to my collection.

I'm a creative at heart, and at anytime am juggling multiple projects for work and fun. Current project interests include writing, film making, photography, woodworking and digital illustration.

I'm a former high school athlete who thinks I was better than I really was even though I have the letter jacket to prove it... I still love to play volleyball, flag football, softball, racquetball and anything else that gives me an excuse to exercise my competitive nature. Oh, and speaking of competitiveness, I’m probably better at Guitar Hero than you are ;)

I have also co-authored and designed a few books.

My 15 minutes of fame came when I created a website for movie star Rachel McAdams which was discussed and promoted by Rachel and Conan O'Brian on the Tonight Show. The site then crashed from the overwhelming amount of traffic that came in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Currently I'm the managing parter at Visual Theology and the Director of Communications at Soteria Des Moines in Iowa.

Because Jesus died and came back to life I'm able to have my sins forgiven. I follow Him with a passion and with no apologies. Since I am a Christian and my worldview is that of a Christ follower, everything I do is in light of that worldview. My writing, design and pursuits are all attempts to image my creator in a way that brings Him the most glory.

This site is my digital playground where it has been evolving in form and function since 1997. Currently its a creative outlet and portfolio as you'll find writings on various topics ranging from books I've read to my thoughts on current culture and issues. I also post my favorite photos and things I've been designing and developing.
